Spaghetti Carbonara

Photobucket
Yes, I know. The photos are still crap. I guess my camera also stinks at making nice pictures. They're all blurry.

So. This is food made in heaven. I love Spaghetti Carbonara. I actually know two sorts of carbonara sauce. The sauce my mother always makes, with cream cheese and this one. The "official" sauce. I made this sauce for the first time last Monday, and made it again yesterday. I love it. So, I'm going to share the recipe with you here. I actually want to eat it again now, just because I'm talking about it.

Spaghetti Carbonara for 4-6 persons.
500 grams spaghetti
salt, pepper
15 grams butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 clove of garlic
200 grams pancetta or raw ham, in thin strips
5 tablespoons white wine
4 eggs
2 tablespoons whipped cream
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons pecorino
1 à 2 tablespoons parsley

1. Cook the pasta as told on the packaging. Bake the garlic in the butter and oil until it's a light shade of brown. Spade the garlic out of the pan and bake the pancetta in about five minutes. Put in the wine and wait until all the fluid is evaporated.
2. Whisk the eggs with the whipped cream and stir the cheeses through it. Put the pasta with the pancetta and stir them together.
3. Put the fire off and stir the egg blend through it. When you don't shut the fire down, the egg will get baked. Put in the parsley, salt and pepper and stir it all together.

LOTD: Baked egg with ham

Photobucket
LOTD, an abbreviation most of you might know as Look of the day. But, since this is a foodblog, I changed the meaning a bit. On little Mary's kitchen, LOTD stands for Lunch of the day. Of course I don't always eat very impressive lunches. Most of the time I just eat a piece of bread with ham or cheese. I think that's a shame, because I love lunch. I really like bread. Most of the time, I like my lunch more than I like my dinner. Today, I made a very easy lunch. A piece of white bread, with ham and an egg, sunny side up, on top of it.
The photos are a little blurry, due to the fact that they are taken with my mobile phone. I couldn't find my camera on time, and otherwise, my egg would have gone cold. I seasoned my egg with a bit of salt, some black pepper and some Cayenne pepper. I think some of the pepper has gone into my nose, because it burns a little bit now. Silly me.

Chocolate chip cupcake

Hi! So I told you I was going to bake a cupcake for my good friend's birthday. I made it Wednesday evening and gave it to him yesterday. He was very happy with it. I've got the recipe from a Dutch site named Cherryfizz. I'll put down the recipe here, so you can make it yourself. But all credit goes to Cherryfizz.

Photobucket

(Enough to make 16 cupcakes)

Ingredients:

- 230 grams of flour

- 1 teaspoon of baking powder

- 125 grams of butter

- 250 grams of sugar

- 1 teaspoon of vanilla aroma

- 3 medium size eggs

- 100 milliliter milk

- A small trace of salt

- 80 grams of dark chocolate chips

- 150 grams of white chocolate chips

Pre-heat the oven to a 175 degrees Celsius, and place the paper lines in a cupcake pan. Mix the butter until it's soft. Then put in the sugar and the eggs and mix this for about 3 minutes.

Sift the flour, baking powder and the salt in a bowl and add this with the milk and the vanilla aroma to the other bowl. Then mix this all until it's a smooth pastry. If you think the mixture is too massive, you can add a little more milk. Add the chocolate and mix it carefully, so the chocolate is divided evenly.

Put the mixture in the paper liners (about half full) and bake the cupcakes in 15 to 20 minutes. You can check if you cakes are ready by putting a fork in the middle of a cupcake. If the fork comes out clean, your cakes are ready.

I'm planning to make...

Photobucket
Hi! So I guess you know the idea of a bucket list? Well, that's kind of what I'm doing here. Posting my own bucket list on baking/cooking. And I've named it the Boiling list. Oh, I'm só original. Let's get to the point. What's on my planning?
Photobucket
A Chocolate Chip Muffin. Well, I actually made this before, but I'm going to bake this again tonight. When it's one of my friends' birthdays, I always make a muffin of cupcake for them. One of my friends turns seventeen tomorrow, so I'm going to bake him a chocolate chip muffin tonight. Or a caramel one, I'm not really sure yet.

Photobucket
Macarons! I love the look of them, but I never made them, and I actually don't know why not. I heard it's quite hard to make them, because all the measurements have to be perfectly right, but I'd love to give it a go. Maybe I'll try to make these this weekend. Just to distract myself from the upcoming testweek.

Photobucket
Bread! Jummy, normal, bread. I don't know why, but I'd like to make my own bread at least once. The point is that it takes so long to make it, because it has to rise first. And I absolutely don't have any patience. But I will give this a go. I think.

Photobucket
And last, gingerbread men. Ever since I've seen Shrek, I've been in love with the little gingerbread man. I think It'd break my heart to eat one of them when I've finally baked them, but I love gingerbread, so these little puppets will be too jummy to be left aside. Still, they are very cute.

Well, Hi!

I always find it very hard to think of a few nice words to welcome you guys to my blog. I guess I'll just tell you something about myself?

So, I'm Marjon. A seventeen-year-old girl from the Netherlands. Friends often call me Mary (you can call me Mary too. I guess Marjon is quite difficult to pronounce in English) and as you may have guessed, I’m not very tall. So that’s where the name of this blog came from. The last word in the title is obviously the most important word. Kitchen. Because that is where ‘the magic happens’ (God, I hate that sentence). I love to bake and cook. I absolutely adore creating nice, good-looking food. So that’s where this blog’s all about, food. Until now, I mostly baked stuff, but I’d like to do some real cooking too. I think my mum would really appreciate it if I’d cook more often and hey, the person who cooks doesn’t have to do the dishes. ;) No, seriously, I love food, not only making it, but also eating it. It’s a great gift for me to have my dad’s metabolism, because otherwise, I’d be as fat as a whale by now. Besides cooking, I also love to sing, act, write and play the piano. Oh, and my friends, family, cat and lovely boyfriend of course. Well, I guess that’s about it. Enjoy reading, baking and cooking!

P.S. The pictures in the header aren't made by me. I'm going to take my own pictures, but as I don't have any of them yet, I'll just use these. They're quite pretty aren't they?
